The dawn of a new era has started in 1966 - the Alternate National Football League. For all of the people in 1966 wondering why the word "Alternate" is in there, here's the official response from me - the commissioner: "Don't worry about it!".

For "player safety" (I have no idea how to fix this at the moment), we're have an 18 week season (with one week serving as the trade deadline). Plenty of time for injured rosters to heal up.
As this is the first season, all rosters have completely random talent. I've had no control over what teams are good and what teams are bad, this is just how the machine spit teams out.
Roster sizes are between 40-46 players. In the upcoming 1967 draft, teams will have 20 draft selections to work with.
The Salary Cap will be initially set at $1,610,000 with a required minimum payroll at $1,207,500. The Salary Cap will automatically adjust and increase within the same range as the NFL has since they instituted their salary cap in 1984 (Maximum inflation at 26.38%, minimum inflation at -7.92%)
Contracts were designed to fit the era. This season, the minimum contract is $9,000 with a maximum of $60,000. The maximum length of an AFL contract is set at 5 years. The Rookie Salary Scale will not be in effect until 2011.
